New EU regulations for end-of-life vehicles will enhance recycling and reuse, starting from August 2026. Key changes include design requirements for easier recycling, mandatory use of recycled plastics, and clearer responsibilities for manufacturers regarding vehicle disposal. Vehicles must be designed for at least 85% reuse or recycling by 2032, and collection systems must be accessible across member states. Export conditions for used vehicles will also be stricter, ensuring they are roadworthy before leaving the EU. The regulations aim to improve sustainability in the automotive sector.
