Authorities in Adelboden, Switzerland, are using artificial snow equipment to combat forest fires. Due to climate change, glaciers are retreating and snowfall is decreasing, impacting the ski resort. Over 70% of the snow is now artificially produced. The existing infrastructure, including water pipes and snow guns, can assist firefighters by creating wet buffer zones to slow fire spread. This system collects rainwater and melted snow for use during the ski season. So far this year, Switzerland has not experienced major wildfires unlike neighboring countries.
