Chinese cars have made significant gains in three major European markets in the first half of 2026, surpassing Korean and Japanese brands. Overall car registrations in Europe increased by 6.1%, with notable growth in Germany, the UK, and Italy. In the UK, Chinese brands captured a 15% market share, outpacing Korean and Japanese vehicles. Italy saw Chinese cars at 14%, while Japan held 13% and Korea 5%. In Spain, Chinese vehicles also reached 14%, nearly matching Japanese cars. Despite strong sales in Germany and France for local brands, Italian brands lag behind German and Chinese ones. In Romania, Chinese brands achieved an 11.1% market share, with BYD and Chery entering the top 10 sales.
