In August 1929, violent riots erupted in Hebron, resulting in the deaths of 67 to 69 Jews, incited by religious leader Hajj Amin Al-Husseini. The riots were part of a broader conflict in British Mandate Palestine, where tensions between Arabs and Jews escalated. Following the violence, many Jews were forced to leave Hebron, ending a 700-year presence. The events foreshadowed future conflicts, including the recent October 2023 attacks by Hamas, which resulted in significant casualties among Israelis.
