For the first time in its history, Morocco will have a woman as head of government, with Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri appointed by King Mohammed VI. El Mansouri, 50, leads the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), which won the most seats in the recent parliamentary elections. Despite securing 97 out of 395 seats, PAM lacks an absolute majority, necessitating coalition negotiations. El Mansouri expressed her honor in leading the new government and plans to consult with her party and other political forces to form a cabinet that addresses youth expectations. She is a lawyer and former mayor of Marrakesh, currently holding a ministerial portfolio since 2021.
