Marile companii de telefonie mobilă din Europa încearcă să concureze Starlinkul și propun un serviciu revoluționar satelit-către-mobil
Four major European mobile operators are collaborating to test satellite-to-mobile services, aiming to compete with Elon Musk's Starlink. Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telefonica, and Vodafone signed a letter of intent to explore direct satellite connections for compatible phones, reducing reliance on traditional cell towers. They plan to establish necessary terrestrial infrastructure and partner with a satellite operator, yet to be selected. This initiative aligns with the EU's goal of enhancing technological independence from American firms. The announcement comes amid concerns over reliance on Starlink, especially highlighted by communication disruptions in Ukraine during the ongoing conflict. The EU is also developing its satellite network, IRIS², to provide secure connectivity across Europe and Africa, with launches expected by 2029.
