Spanish conductor Jordi Savall announced the upcoming launch of Aevum, an online platform for classical, jazz, and traditional music, aimed at fairly compensating creators. Set to debut in late 2027 or early 2028, Aevum will operate on a different model than current streaming giants, addressing the inequities faced by classical music. Savall criticized existing streaming systems for favoring pop music and underpaying classical artists. Aevum will ensure producers are compensated for actual listening time, allowing for better returns on investment. The platform will also facilitate direct purchases from musicians. Savall has invested part of his Ernst von Siemens award into this project, which aims to host over 300,000 albums and will seek sponsors in 2027.
