Marea Neagră „urcă” pe Dunăre. Apa sărată a ajuns 25 km în Deltă. Ce se întâmplă cu apa potabilă? • Newsweek România
The low flow of the Danube allows salty water from the Black Sea to penetrate up to 25 kilometers into the Delta, posing risks to ecosystems and drinking water sources. This phenomenon, known as saline intrusion, occurs as the denser seawater moves along the riverbed while freshwater remains on the surface. Current conditions indicate that the Danube's flow is significantly below average, which may lead to further saltwater encroachment, potentially affecting local water supplies. If the Danube's flow increases, the stronger current could push the saline water back towards the Black Sea.
