Romania aims to become the first Black Sea country to develop offshore wind farms, targeting a total capacity of 11.5 GW. The Ministry of Energy estimates that the economic impact could reach up to 27 billion euros. Greek energy companies are showing interest in participating in these projects. The Black Sea region has a high wind potential of 76 GW, with plans for three development phases. The first phase includes three concession zones for a total of 3.1 GW, aiming for 3 GW installed by 2035. Investments in the energy sector are expected to create jobs and boost the economy, but infrastructure upgrades are also necessary.
