Marea Britanie repornește după 20 de ani producția de arme de calibru greu
The UK has resumed heavy weapon production for the first time in 20 years, aiming to enhance national defense capabilities amid rising security threats. Rheinmetall UK is manufacturing 120mm and 155mm artillery components at a facility in Telford, creating 100 skilled jobs. Defense Minister John Healey emphasizes the importance of the defense industry in reindustrializing the UK. The production unit was quickly brought to full capacity within eight months to counter increasing threats from Russia. However, some defense projects face delays due to uncertainties about increasing defense spending to 3% of GDP, a key interim goal towards NATO's target of 3.5% by 2035. This factory opening follows a new UK-Germany defense cooperation agreement signed in 2024.
