Marea Britanie înăsprește regulile pentru rezidență permanentă. „Dreptul de a trăi în această țară trebuie meritat”

The UK government has tightened the rules for obtaining permanent residency, requiring foreign nationals to demonstrate ten years of residence instead of five. This change, announced by Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, aims to address both legal and illegal immigration amid rising anti-immigration sentiments. Exceptions exist for high earners and certain professions, allowing them to qualify sooner. Applicants must also meet additional criteria, including a clean criminal record and English language proficiency. The new regulations will affect around 500,000 individuals currently waiting for residency, with an estimated 1.9 million expected to obtain it by 2030.
