On October 14, the Romanian Ministry of Defense reported detecting aerial targets over the Black Sea, prompting the deployment of Spanish F-18s. Ukrainian air defense successfully destroyed one target near Reni. Alerts were issued for the northeastern Tulcea and eastern Galați regions. The interim Defense Minister, Radu Miruță, emphasized the need for a NATO joint command in the Black Sea due to increasing incidents involving drones and sunken vessels. He proposed a joint letter to NATO leadership with Bulgaria to support this initiative, with Romania potentially leading by 2028.
