An Italian Eurofighter attempted to shoot it down before a Romanian F-16 succeeded. The drone was identified as a Russian Gheran-2 and was tracked across several locations before being neutralized. Search operations commenced immediately after the drone was downed, involving military personnel and isolation of the area. General Vlad Gheorghiţă confirmed that the Italian aircraft engaged the target but did not hit it. An IAR-330 Puma helicopter also participated in the operation, but further operational details were withheld for security reasons.
