The European Commission has proposed a free trade agreement (FTA) with India, which, if approved, will be the largest trade deal for both parties. This agreement aims to enhance market access, reduce tariffs, and eliminate trade barriers, benefiting both EU and Indian businesses. Currently, EU-India trade exceeds €180 billion annually, supporting around 800,000 jobs in the EU. The FTA will significantly lower tariffs on EU exports, particularly in sectors like machinery and agriculture, while also liberalizing services, providing better access for European companies. The agreement is expected to boost trade volumes and create more job opportunities in various sectors.
