Maia Sandu, mesaj de Ziua Limbii Române: Astăzi o putem vorbi liber, fără teamă
Moldovan President Maia Sandu emphasized the significance of preserving the Romanian language in her message for Romanian Language Day, highlighting the efforts of past generations. She noted that the language is vital to identity and should be passed on to future generations. Sandu acknowledged the freedom to speak Romanian today and the responsibility to protect it. Romanian Language Day, celebrated on August 31, is linked to the national revival movement in Moldova during the late 1980s, advocating for the recognition of Romanian as the state language. The day was officially established in Romania in 2013.
