Less than one in five dental practices in Romania are contracted with the National Health Insurance House (CNAS), limiting access to insured dental services for many patients. Dentists cite low reimbursement rates and high operational costs as reasons for not participating in the CNAS system. The number of reimbursed dental procedures has decreased significantly over the years, impacting patient care, especially for children. Similar challenges exist in other European countries, where rural areas struggle to attract dentists. Efforts are being made to increase the number of reimbursed services and improve financial support for dental practices.
