The Romanian government has increased the budget for agricultural diesel support by 94.3 million lei, raising the total to 714.3 million lei for 2026. This funding will assist farmers with diesel costs from January to March 2026. Vice Prime Minister Tánczos Barna emphasized that this measure aims to reduce production costs and enhance competitiveness in the agricultural sector. Future proposals may allow farmers to recover excise amounts within three months of diesel purchase. The support scheme targets agricultural producers across various sectors, compensating part of the diesel excise used for mechanized farming operations.
