Magistrala 6 de metrou avansează spre Otopeni: a început forarea tunelurilor între stațiile Bruxelles și Tokyo • Newsweek România

The construction of Metro Line 6, connecting Bucharest to Otopeni Airport, is progressing with tunnel boring between the Brussels and Tokyo stations. Transport Minister Ștefan Ovidiu Popa announced the start of this phase, highlighting the use of two TBM machines named after saints. The northern section will be completed in two stages, with a current physical completion rate of 34%. The entire line, approximately 14 kilometers long, is expected to be finished by early 2029, pending timely funding from the Ministry of Transport. This project aims to improve access to the airport and enhance international passenger connections.
