Lucian Romașcanu: Curtea de Conturi Europeană este un generator de încredere și veghează ca lucrurile să se întâmple corect

Lucian Romașcanu, a member of the European Court of Auditors, emphasized that financial issues in the EU indicate areas for improvement rather than failure. He highlighted the importance of trust in EU institutions and reported that the EU's payments in 2025 totaled €216.4 billion. The Court issued a favorable opinion on the viability of EU accounts but noted a 3.8% error rate in budget expenditures, exceeding the acceptable threshold. Key areas contributing to errors included natural resources and cohesion. Romașcanu stressed the need for credible performance indicators and transparency in the new financial framework to enhance fund management and absorption rates, currently at only 30%.
