Bucharest plans to gradually restrict access for older, polluting vehicles starting November 2027, aiming for zero emissions by 2032. The initiative requires approval from the General Council and will phase out cars based on their Euro standards. The first restrictions will target non-Euro vehicles in the central area, with further limitations on Euro 1 to Euro 5 vehicles in subsequent years. Additionally, the city aims to reduce pollution from household heating by supporting transitions to gas heating systems. The plan is inspired by similar measures in other European capitals.
