The Bucharest Court of Appeal has overturned the 3 years and 8 months prison sentence of Florin Mihalache, former deputy head of STS, who was convicted for influence peddling, money laundering, and forgery. The court found insufficient evidence to support the charges against him, leading to his acquittal. Mihalache was accused of soliciting €75,000 from a company administrator to leverage his influence in settling commercial disputes. The prosecution alleged he created a fictitious loan agreement to disguise the money's origin. The appellate decision is final and clears him of all charges.
