Lituania desfăşoară trupe pentru a spori securitatea la frontiera cu exclava rusă Kaliningrad
Lithuania is reinforcing its border with the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad as a precautionary measure, according to Interior Minister Martynas Katelynas. He requested the deployment of soldiers to support border police, emphasizing the current calm situation. Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas approved the deployment of up to 100 regular troops for border surveillance, which may last several weeks and could be adjusted based on developments. Lithuania, a NATO and EU member, feels particularly threatened since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022. Recent incidents at the Latvia-Belarus border and general security concerns in the region prompted this military action.
