This year, the Romanian coastline has seen a record number of dolphin strandings, with 266 reported cases, significantly higher than previous years. Biologists conducted a three-day expedition and observed only 61 dolphins in Romanian waters, suggesting that military activities may be driving dolphins away from certain areas. The majority of stranded dolphins were found dead and showed signs of entanglement in fishing nets. Most strandings occurred on beaches in Constanța, Mamaia, and Năvodari. Experts are concerned about the increasing number of strandings, which have nearly tripled compared to last year.
