Rail traffic between Bulgaria and Romania will be completely halted from April 5 to December 13, 2027, due to a major electrification and infrastructure project. This decision was coordinated between the National Railway Infrastructure Company and the Romanian Railway Administrator. During this period, no passenger or freight trains will be allowed on the bridge, and international traffic will be redirected through border crossings at Vidin and Kardam. Transport companies have been notified to reorganize their logistics accordingly. Despite the logistical challenges, the project aims to enhance travel speeds and create a fully electrified route, improving transport along this strategic European corridor.
