Alexandru Munteanu, leader of USR Dâmbovița, was detained by DIICOT for allegedly violating EU sanctions by coordinating the sale of military-use machinery to front companies in Germany and Kazakhstan, with Belarus as the final beneficiary. He was held after 12 hours of questioning. The machinery, valued at over 1.5 million euros, could be modified for weapon production. USR stated that if the allegations are confirmed, Munteanu could be expelled from the party. The investigation involves multiple suspects linked to the illegal transfer of industrial equipment potentially used for military purposes, with several searches conducted across various locations.
