Paul Mackenzie, leader of an apocalyptic cult in Kenya, was found guilty of murdering 190 children and one adult. His followers were instructed to starve their children to meet Jesus. The final sentencing is set for November 6. Other cult leaders were also convicted, all pleading not guilty. Mackenzie’s teachings prohibited education and modern medicine. The judge noted that followers believed he was Jesus' spokesperson. Disturbing practices included celebrating deaths as 'weddings' to Jesus. Mackenzie faces additional charges, including terrorism and child education refusal, but this is the first conviction for murder. He was arrested in 2023 after over 400 bodies were discovered in shallow graves in Shakahola forest.
