A proposed law, already adopted by the Chamber of Deputies, allows certain officers of the Romanian Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE) to conduct criminal investigations against military colleagues. This legislation aims to enable SIE employees to investigate criminal acts committed by their peers within the agency. Officers designated for these investigations would be appointed by the SIE director with prior approval from the General Prosecutor of Romania. The law also stipulates that these officers must follow specific provisions from the Criminal Procedure Code during their investigations.
