The film, focusing on a young maid's relationship with a German soldier during WWII, highlights the challenges faced by female directors. El-Toukhy emphasized the systemic issues in film financing for women. Mathilde Arcel won the Best Actress award for her role in the same film, and John Malkovich was honored as Best Actor for "Wild Horse Nine." The Jury Grand Prize went to "Possible Love" by Lee Chang-dong, which explores social class differences in South Korea. Ilya Khrzhanovsky received the Silver Lion for directing "DAU," dedicating his award to Ukrainians fighting for freedom. The ceremony also paid tribute to the late producer Jeremy Thomas.
