The Latvian government plans to impose a 300% customs tariff on cereals from Russia and Belarus, according to Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs. This decision follows increased Russian grain transit through Latvia and Lithuania amid Ukraine's attacks on Russian ports. Officials from both Latvia and Lithuania are considering halting Russian grain shipments to their ports. Such tariffs or bans could significantly impact Russian grain exports, especially as Black Sea routes are disrupted by Ukrainian drone attacks. Last season, Russia exported 46.3 million tons of grain via its Black Sea and Azov Sea ports, accounting for 90% of its maritime grain exports.
