Latvia has rejected a proposed EU agreement to lift sanctions on oligarchs Usmanov and Fridman in exchange for extending sanctions on thousands of others. Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs stated that Latvia cannot accept such a deal, emphasizing the need for a solution that aligns with Latvia's interests. The sanctions, including asset freezes and travel bans, are set to expire unless all EU member states agree to extend them. France and Slovakia have recently called for the lifting of sanctions against Usmanov, while Luxembourg has sought similar measures for Fridman. Both oligarchs have challenged the sanctions legally.
