Leonardo Badea, prim-viceguvernator BNR: Scăderea investițiilor străine directe, un semnal pe care România nu trebuie să-l ignore
Foreign direct investments in Romania dropped significantly in the first half of 2026, totaling only 669 million euros, a decrease of about 82% compared to 2025. This decline is attributed to three main factors: high dividend distributions, reduced operational profitability, and specific market conditions. The negative reinvested profits indicate that dividends exceeded profits during this period, reflecting economic slowdown and increased uncertainty. Additionally, European funds have become crucial for financing external imbalances without increasing debt. The government must ensure a stable economic environment to regain investor confidence and maximize the absorption of these funds.
