In 2025, Romania's wood exploitation volume increased by 7.5% to 18.849 million cubic meters, according to the National Institute of Statistics. Roundwood exploitation also rose by 7.2%, reaching 17.358 million cubic meters. This growth was driven by a 5% increase in coniferous wood and an 8.6% rise in broadleaf wood. Coniferous species accounted for 39.7% and broadleaf species for 60.3% of the total roundwood. Beech was the most significant broadleaf species, making up 32.1% of the total. The volume of coniferous wood rose by 331,000 cubic meters, while beech increased by 546,000 cubic meters. Logs represented the largest share of roundwood at 46.5%, with firewood making up 40.7%. However, the volume of split wood decreased by 75,000 cubic meters.
