With the need to double food production by 2050, this initiative seeks to leverage stable underground conditions. The farm is located at the Boulby mine, which remains active for mineral extraction. The project also focuses on repurposing unused mines, creating jobs, and improving access to fresh produce in economically challenged areas. Expansion plans are underway, with a new mine expected to provide significantly more space by 2030.
