This autumn's unpredictable weather has led to abundant forest mushroom harvests in Bucovina, with collectors gathering significant amounts daily. The price of edible mushrooms, particularly gypsy mushrooms, has reached around 30 lei per kilogram. Experienced foragers emphasize the importance of recognizing edible varieties, as some toxic species closely resemble them. Local markets and restaurants increasingly feature these mushrooms in various dishes, appealing to both locals and vegetarians. Romania boasts over 1,600 mushroom species, with about 400 being edible, and the consumption of mushrooms exceeded 16,000 tons in 2024.
