The Romanian Parliament approved a law allowing the government to pay over 600 million euros owed to Pfizer, following accusations among political parties regarding vaccine contracts. The law was adopted with 198 votes in favor, amid a heated exchange of blame between PSD, PNL, and USR. This comes after Pfizer blocked ROMATSA's accounts to recover the debt for COVID-19 vaccines. The legislation creates a legal framework for settling disputes, including during enforcement. Political tensions escalated as parties accused each other of responsibility for excessive vaccine orders and misinformation about vaccines. AUR announced plans to challenge the law in the Constitutional Court.
