A new law regulating the fuel market has come into effect, introducing measures to limit price increases at gas stations. It includes capping commercial markups, potential reductions in diesel excise, and a solidarity contribution for certain oil industry operators. The law establishes a crisis situation in the oil market until October 31, 2026, with possible extensions. Key provisions include limiting markups to 2025 levels adjusted for inflation and allowing gas stations to raise prices once daily. The excise on standard diesel can be temporarily reduced based on international oil prices. Additionally, a contribution on exceptional revenues for certain operators is introduced, and sanctions for non-compliance are outlined.
