A British driver lost his Lamborghini Huracán, valued at over £200,000, due to new stricter laws against dangerous driving. The Essex police confiscated the vehicle after reports of reckless driving in Southend, where it was allegedly speeding over twice the legal limit. The car was seized under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act, which allows immediate confiscation if a vehicle poses a threat or causes public distress. Previously, drivers received warnings before confiscation. The police can still issue warnings but also have the authority to seize vehicles and use force if necessary. Last year, the Metropolitan Police confiscated 72 luxury cars worth over £6 million in a crackdown on antisocial driving.
