Legea ANI va fi analizată de Comisia de la Veneția în regim de urgență, anunță USR

The Venice Commission will urgently review the new ANI Law, which has led to the loss of Timișoara's mayoral mandate for USR leader Dominic Fritz. The Commission's opinion will focus on the law's retroactive effects and its compatibility with European standards. This review was requested by the President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, following concerns raised by USR parliamentarians. The ANI Law, part of Romania's PNRR, includes provisions that could terminate local elected mandates, raising issues about democratic representation and local autonomy. Fritz lost his mandate due to a conflict of interest ruling related to a zoning plan he approved after his election.
