Lagarde, BCE: Perspectivele indică o inflație mai ridicată în viitor
Christine Lagarde, ECB President, emphasized the significant impact of energy shocks from the Iran conflict on monetary policy, advocating for a measured response to control inflation. Speaking in Bangkok, she noted rising inflation expectations due to energy market developments but indicated no substantial pass-through effects on other prices or wages. Lagarde outlined that ECB decisions rely on inflation outlooks, core inflation trends, and monetary policy transmission strength. Despite resilient economic growth, financing conditions have tightened, with long-term interest rates rising, which may slow the economy more than previously anticipated. The ECB raised interest rates twice this year, with inflation in the eurozone reaching 3.8% in September, driven by energy costs.
