Local crops like sunflower and rapeseed are also suffering due to drought conditions. Analysts predict a 15.8% rise in agricultural commodity prices and a 0.3% impact on Germany's GDP. The effects of these shocks will be felt within four to eight months, particularly this autumn and winter. The drought has already pressured local agriculture, potentially leading to higher prices for vegetable oils and biofuel raw materials. Additionally, energy prices are expected to rise due to logistical disruptions caused by low water levels in rivers, further exacerbating inflationary pressures on households and businesses across Europe.
