The Greek government has introduced a significant social support package worth billions, including minimum wage increases and tax reductions. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced fiscal reforms to be implemented in 2027, costing 2.2 billion euros. The plan includes annual bonuses for pensioners and civil servants, as well as tax exemptions for low-income farmers and families with three children. Despite a drop in electoral support due to the cost of living crisis, the government remains popular. Greece's economy is growing, with a projected surplus, allowing for the promised social measures. A minimum wage increase to 1,000 euros is also planned for 2028.
