La 70 de ani de la revolta antisovietică din Ungaria vor fi făcute publice numele a 60.000 de colaboratori ai fostei Securități
Hungary is set to declassify tens of thousands of communist police files, making them accessible in a public database. This move coincides with the 70th anniversary of the 1956 anti-Soviet uprising and fulfills a campaign promise by Prime Minister Peter Magyar. Previously, citizens could only access their own or close relatives' files, but now anyone can search the database online. The files contain names of around 50,000 to 60,000 informants who collaborated with the secret police, often under duress. While some details will be redacted for privacy, this initiative is seen as a significant step towards transparency and understanding the past in Hungary, contrasting with approaches in other former Eastern Bloc countries.
