After 15 years of modernization efforts, the 85 km stretch of DN73 Brașov - Câmpulung is nearing completion. Initial work began in 2011, with promises of completion by 2016, but significant delays occurred, particularly between 2019 and 2024 when no work was done. The original contract was awarded to a Spanish group but was terminated in 2020 due to insufficient progress. The project was later divided into two lots, with different companies handling the work. As of October 2026, the Câmpulung-Fundata section is expected to be accepted soon, while the Fundata-Brașov section has completed major works, pending minor adjustments to road markings.
