Kazakhstan is set to become the first Central Asian country to introduce electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air taxis. The Prosperity eVTOL, developed by China's AutoFlight, was showcased in a demonstration flight in Astana. This small aircraft can carry a pilot and five passengers, reaching speeds of 200 km/h and a range of 200 km on a single charge. The air taxi service will launch in Alatau, a newly built digital city, with commercial operations expected to start by late 2028 or early 2029, connecting Alatau, Almaty, and local tourist destinations. Air taxi technology is still in its early stages globally, with few countries currently pursuing such projects.
