European foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas urged increased pressure on Russia during a meeting in New York, highlighting the need for stronger actions against Russia's military and economic vulnerabilities. She emphasized the importance of sanctions, which currently target over 3,000 individuals and entities, and called for their extension. Kallas also addressed the deteriorating situation in the Middle East, stressing the need for enhanced maritime security and resources for the European operation ASPIDES. She pointed out the strategic significance of key maritime points and advocated for closer cooperation with partners in the Indo-Pacific region. Kallas underscored the necessity of a more effective UN and the importance of reforming the organization to better address global conflicts.
