A new waste collection system is set to be implemented in Harghita County, with around 150,000 bins and composters being distributed. The system is scheduled to start in early December, with contracts being signed with residents. Authorities aim to finalize 75% of the estimated 120,000 contracts by the end of November. The project, funded by European money, has been in development for over a decade and will utilize a 'Pay As You Throw' principle to encourage waste reduction. Collected waste will be processed at the Integrated Waste Management Center in Remetea.
