A court has ruled against a pensioner seeking to eliminate health insurance contributions (CASS) for pensions exceeding 3,000 lei. The tribunal upheld the legality of the CASS deductions, which are set to be enforced from August 1, 2025. The pensioner argued that these deductions were illegal, claiming that pensions are a return on previously paid contributions. However, the court found the claims unfounded, stating that the government has the authority to impose such contributions. Nearly 2 million pensioners currently pay CASS, contributing significant funds to health insurance.
