Japan is considering the use of humanoid robots with AI in its Self-Defense Forces to address recruitment challenges. These robots are expected to perform non-combat tasks such as patrolling military bases and providing logistical support, potentially reducing the need for human personnel. The humanoid design will allow them to operate in environments designed for humans, utilizing AI to analyze data from sensors and cameras. Future applications may include reconnaissance and rescue operations, although their effectiveness has not yet been tested in real conditions. A competition will be held to identify suitable robot models, but armed humanoid robots are not currently planned for combat due to identification risks.
