Only 6.5 millimeters of rain fell in England, and 9.3 millimeters in Wales, significantly below average. The southern region recorded just 1.9 millimeters, representing only 3% of the normal rainfall. The UKHSA issued an orange heat alert for several regions, predicting temperatures could reach 31 degrees Celsius. The heatwaves in May and June led to an estimated 2,877 additional deaths in England.
