„Italienii își vor alege din nou parlamentarii”: noua lege electorală a lui Meloni, adoptată definitiv

Italy's Parliament has officially passed a new electoral law reintroducing preferential voting and providing a seat bonus for coalitions exceeding 42% of votes. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni welcomed the law, emphasizing that voters will have the ability to choose their party, coalition, program, and candidate for prime minister. The new system, termed "Stabilicum" by supporters and "Melonellum" by critics, replaces the previous electoral law used in 2022. It allows voters to cast up to three preferential votes, while the first candidates on the lists remain determined by the parties. The law also permits voting outside one's residence for students and workers living away from home. Opposition parties have criticized the law, labeling it unconstitutional and a threat to democracy.
